Company succession still casts a long shadow over the German SME sector. According to the Institut für Mittelstandsforschung (IfM) Bonn, there will be more than 772,000 companies worthy of succession by 2026, but there is often a lack of suitable successors for these companies and financing succession is also usually difficult.
